چکیده

We present our tool for assisting designers in the error-prone and timeconsuming tasks carried out at the early stages of a data warehousing project. Our tool semi-automatically produces multidimensional (MD) and ETL conceptual designs from a given set of business requirements (like SLAs) and data source descriptions. Subsequently, our tool translates both the MD and ETL conceptual designs produced into physical designs, so they can be further deployed on a DBMS and an ETL engine. In this paper, we describe the system architecture and present our demonstration proposal by means of an example.

GEM: Requirement-Driven Generation of ETL and Multidimensional Conceptual Designs

At the early stages of a data warehouse design project, the main objective is to collect the business requirements and needs, and translate them into an appropriate conceptual, multidimensional design. Typically, this task is performed manually, through a series of interviews involving two different parties: the business analysts and technical designers. Producing an appropriate conceptual desi...

Integrating ETL Processes from Information Requirements

Data warehouse (DW) design is based on a set of requirements expressed as service level agreements (SLAs) and business level objects (BLOs). Populating a DW system from a set of information sources is realized with extract-transform-load (ETL) processes based on SLAs and BLOs. The entire task is complex, time consuming, and hard to be performed manually. This paper presents our approach to the ...

Quarry: Digging Up the Gems of Your Data Treasury

The design lifecycle of a data warehousing (DW) system is primarily led by requirements of its end-users and the complexity of underlying data sources. The process of designing a multidimensional (MD) schema and back-end extracttransform-load (ETL) processes, is a long-term and mostly manual task. As enterprises shift to more real-time and ’onthe-fly’ decision making, business intelligence (BI)...

Using Linear Physical Programming in Optimizing Fuzzy Quality Function Deployment

Quality function deployment (QFD) is a customer-driven quality management and product development system for achieving higher customer satisfaction. It is necessary to determine relationships between customer requirements (CRs) and technical requirements (TRs), as well as correlation among the TRs themselves. Such data are usually ambiguous and fuzzy and people have different judgments about th...

Uclean: a Requirement Based Object- Oriented Etl Framework

Data warehouse is used to provide effective results from multidimensional data analysis. The accuracy and correctness of these results depend on the quality of the data. To improve data quality, data must be properly extracted, transformed and loaded into the data warehouse. This ETL process is the key to the success of a data warehouse. In this paper we propose a conceptual ETL framework for a...
